Who does what

Agents do the routine. Your staff accountant checks it.

The staff accountant seat's month, as one checklist. The agents tick their lines first. Your staff accountant checks every one of them, then does the work that needs a person.

What the seat costs

What a $67,500 staff accountant really costs you.

$67,500 is the median pay in the 17 staff accountant postings we read that listed pay. Posted pay is where the cost starts. Every employer pays two more lines on top: payroll taxes and benefits, at the federal average for companies under 50 staff.

That is $22,800 a year the posting never shows.

An illustration from public averages, not a quote. Each line is rounded to the nearest $100. Same method as our seat cost calculator, where you can put in the pay you posted. What loaded cost means

Before you meet them

Four checks, every candidate.

Every staff accountant we put forward has been through all four before their resume reaches you.

Qualified

Years in the systems your post names, plus the degree or certificate it asks for.

Skilled

A timed test on sample books: a bank reconciliation and a month-end close.

Clear

A recorded call and a written answer, in plain English, that you can watch before the interview.

Checked

References and identity, done before the resume reaches you.

How hiring works

From your posting to a staff accountant at work, inside the month.

Step 1

Send us the posting

The link, or paste the task list. We sort every duty on it, line by line like the list above: what software does from day one, what needs a person, and whether anything really needs the building.

Step 2

Meet named candidates

Named staff accountants with real resumes, each already working alongside our agents and through the four checks. Interviewing is free.

Step 3

Pick one, and pick a way

Hire them onto your payroll, or take them as a dedicated person we employ. Either way the agents come set up for the software your posting names.

Step 4

First close by the 10th

Week 1 is access and procedures, week 2 is guided work against your current process, week 3 onward is full production. The first 30 days, in detail

If it goes wrong

Nothing here is hard to walk back.

A wrong hire costs you a quarter and a severance conversation. Every route below is reversible on purpose.

First month · both ways

The person is wrong for us

Try them with the agents for a month. If it does not feel right, we buy back every hour they and the agents worked.

Six months · hire

They leave or do not work out

A placement is guaranteed for six months: a replacement from our network, or the fee back as credit. Your pick.

You keep the person · hire

The software is not worth it

Then we leave and you keep the person. The hire is yours, on your payroll, directed by you.

Month to month · both ways

We want out

Your books live in your own software the whole time, so leaving is a handover, not a rescue.

Software

In your software, as it is today.

The agents connect to your accounting system with a user or key you create and can switch off. No switch required.

Your person also works in anything else you give them a login to, like payroll in ADP or Gusto, and your spreadsheets. The agents do not connect to those; they work on what those systems export. All 15 systems the agents connect to

Staff accountant questions

Do we need a staff accountant or a bookkeeper?

Look at your posting. The staff accountant postings we read leaned on the close (15 of 21), journal entries (14 of 21) and audit support (12 of 21), and 13 of 21 required a bachelor's degree. If yours is mostly bank feeds, bills and invoices, a bookkeeper with agents may cover it. We sort your posting and tell you which.

Can they work with our outside accountant?

Yes. Your person prepares what your outside accountant or auditor asks for, in your software, and the agents keep the supporting documents in order.

What software do they know?

Each candidate lists the systems they have used, with years. The agents connect to QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365 and Odoo, set up the way yours is today.

We are changing systems this year.

Changing systems is never a condition of working with us. If you decide to move, we move the data and check it against the old books line by line. That is your decision and a separate conversation.

What if the person is wrong for us?

Try them with the agents for a month. If it does not feel right, we buy back every hour they and the agents worked, and your other applicants are still there. After that, a placement is guaranteed for six months: a replacement from our network, or the fee back as credit against the agents fee. Your choice.

How fast can you start?

Within the month. Week 1 is access and procedures, week 2 is guided work against your current process, week 3 onward is full production. We never promise a start inside a week, because a careful handover takes longer than that.

Who is doing the work?

The person you pick, plus the people who check their work. Each one signs in with a second code on top of a password and works only inside your own software, and your data is encrypted when it moves and when it is stored.
